2024 Meeting Notes

Date: August 3, 2024
Location: Andrew Family Pavilion, 880 Andrew Mountain Road, Naugatuck, CT 06770

I. Roll Call & Opening Remarks

  • Meeting called to order by Matt Andrew at 2:13 PM.

II. Old Business

  • Recognition & Tribute:

    • Linda Andrew spoke in recognition of Peter Staley.

    • Motion passed to donate money to Peter Staley’s family.

  • Secretary’s Report:

    • Last year’s Secretary’s Report was emailed in advance of the meeting.

    • Report was read aloud by Hillary Federico.

    • Motion to approve by Linda Andrew, seconded by [???].

  • Historian’s Report:

    • Presented by Anthony DePoto.

    • Motion to approve made by Anthony DePoto, accepted by Peter Staley.

  • Treasurer’s Report:

    • Presented by Kyle Andrew.

  • Family Website:

    • Matt discussed updates to the family website.

    • Plan to add family history content.

    • Site: TheAndrew.family, to be updated quarterly.

    • Discussion of website costs and long-term maintenance.

    • Sign-up initiated for members interested in helping to maintain the site.

III. New Business

  • T-Shirts:

    • Matt introduced new family t-shirt designs.

    • Design and ordering link to be emailed and posted on the website.

  • 50/50 Raffle:

    • Kyle will coordinate the raffle.

  • Board Expansion:

    • Matt emphasized the historical significance of long-standing reunions and proposed to add a new board member to oversee the family’s new website.

    • Motion to add a new Board Member made by Hillary, seconded by Barbara Andrew. Motion passed.

  • Membership Dues:

    • Proposal to increase dues from $15 to $20 per working adult starting in 2025.

    • Motion approved.

  • Facilities:

    • Russ Andrew II will manage outhouse needs.

    • Decision made to cease outhouse rentals unless on a five-year increment.

  • Historical Preservation:

    • Matt encouraged collective preservation of family history and photos.

    • Kim suggested a donation option be added to the website for non-attendees.

    • Russell will index family photos.

  • Ashes Memorial:

    • Eddie Andrew noted that ashes of the following individuals have been laid on the mountain:

      • Dick Pierce

      • Ellie

      • Les

      • John

      • Ed Nelson

      • Ronald Andrew

  • Memorial Bench:

    • Lisa proposed installing a memorial bench at the pavilion. Approved.

  • Family Documents Project:

    • Brad Andrew proposed creating a digital family tree using SquareSpace.

    • Task assigned to Russell Andrew and Tolan Halstead for 2024–2025: Digitize important Andrew Family documents.

  • Family Engagement:

    • Plan for more quarterly check-ins and collective family activity online and in person.

  • Motion to adjourn made by Matt Andrew.
